The old person and the period of aging are subjects that strongly engage various religions around the world. Judaism, for instance, does not separate old age from the person’s life as a whole. Quite the contrary: in some traditions, old age forms an integral part of the fabric of family and community life. It is true that the ancient writings contain references to the sufferings of old age, but many passages deal with the desire for an active old age.
